Hey! Listen! Flyrule Mashes Hip Hop and Zelda the Right Way

I was raised on both hip hop and video games, so it's no wonder why I'm so critical when corny lyricists mash these things up and think they're hotter than Richter Belmont's flaming whip. You know who you are! With some very rare exceptions - Mega Ran, for instance - the majority of gaming infused hip hop is hot Metro City garbage. That said, I'm feeling this Flyrule joint.

Maybe it's because my ear canals don't have to deal with any bullshit lyrics as with some other recent Zelda mashups like these - though I suppose the latter is a bit more tongue-in-cheek. Perhaps stripping the lyrics has done the trick for me, especially since these beats are so, so fresh. Put any half decent artist over these tracks and this would be a very solid hip hop offering, video game or otherwise. But even as a standalone, Shag's masterful reworking of some very beloved Zelda tunes has kept my head nodding for a good part of the day. So if you like The Legend of Zelda, and you like hip hop, you'll love Flyrule. Give it a listen, and if you're so inclined, buy after you try.

    Shank's Soundtrack is Killer

I've been all about Shank the past few weeks, pacing back and forth like an unsatiated fiend waiting for my fix. And while I still have a little more than a day to wait before I dish out revenge in the form of style and pain, developers Klei has made the wait that much easier (or more painful) by releasing Shank's full soundtrack

Listen to it. Even if you're not interested in this game, you should listen to it. This soundtrack could easily score Robert Rodriguez's next Mexican shoot'em-up. While it is possible to download each file individually (without proper metadata) Klei assures we'll have a full zip file very soon. Hopefully with some proper labeling and track numbering, but even if not, it's 13 tracks of quality music, for free. Can't complain. Can't wait to hear these tracks in context. Can't stop thinking about Shank.

    E3: Assassin's Creed Brotherhood

I haven't played Assassin's Creed since the first installment. Stop judging me for being a game blogger and not having played a ton of good games!

    Ahem.

I haven't played Assassin's Creed since the first installment. Ubisoft just won me back with the Assassin's Creed Brotherhood multiplayer. The following extremely well crafted trailer illustrates the game of cat-and-mouse we can expect. If the multiplayer isn't really your switchblade up the sleeve, try this trailer instead. Of course, neither of these are showing any real gameplay, but regardless.. I'm a sucker for trailers that fuse cinematic action seamlessly with a dope track. Ubisoft did it once before with Massive Attack's Tear Drop, and now they do it again with These New Puritans' We Want War.
