Sony Brings Multiple URLs Together to Form a Move Marketing Voltron

Check out Sony's marketing for Playstation Move. It's one site that is comprised of about 7 unique URLs, each serving a specific purpose. Have a mother or girlfriend who you need to convince to buy you a Move? Enlist the help of the Sensitive Fireman, who will be damned if appealing to your woman's soft side won't net you some glowy motion controlled goodness. Unsure of how Move stacks up to the competition? Try Move vs. Stuff. Need to catch up with the latest Move trailers and promos? Move Candy has you covered. Last but surely not least, if you're leaning toward the purchase of a Kinect rather than a Playstation Move, Yay Buttons makes an argument targeted indirectly at Microsoft's motion tracking system, and quite cleverly too. Say what you will about Sony and Playstation 3, but their marketing is always top notch.

Yay Buttons and Sensitive Fireman are definitely the best of the bunch, but the other URLs serve their purpose as well. It's a neat little site thrown together by the folks at Sony, and even if you're not ready to drop the money on motion controlled gaming yet, you should at least give it 5 minutes of your time for some information on the system, and a bit of fun.

Sengoku Basara Samurai Heroes Demo Available Tomorrow

Are you a fan of Japanese history and ridiculously over-the-top characters and fighting? Well then use a sick day for work tomorrow, Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes, the balls-to-the-wall action game loosely based on Japan's feudal era is coming to a PS3 near you.

Samurai Heroes' demo will be available tomorrow, Tuesday September 7th, exclusively on PSN. Sorry Wii owners, you'll have to wait until release day for your fix. Sorry Xbox 360 owners, you'll have to wait until.. Never! This game is not for you!

The demo will feature two playable warlords of the fifteen-plus available in the retail version of the game. So whether you're the type of person who is happy strictly playing demos, or you've been sitting wide eyed in a dark corner, with a case of the shakes waiting to get your styletastic fix of 16th century Japan, hop onto PSN and give Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes a hack and/or slash tomorrow.

PSN's Malicious is a Boss Rush

Malicious looks really, really good. The boss-centric gameplay tosses you into the thick of things at the start of each freely selectable map, doing away with stage progression and things of the like. In true Megaman fashion, you're able to select your stage from the get go, acquire defeated boss power-ups, and implement them moving forward to defeat other bosses in the style of Rock, Paper, Scissors.

While the art is beautiful and the action is visceral, a game primarily consisting boss battles will undoubtedly be on the short side. Thankfully, as a PSN title, Malicious shouldn't cost more than a cool twenty. If this title stays true to form, it looks to be a definite buy.

Malicious will release in Japan later this year. Hopefully it gets ported stateside, for some reason, something about it screams Japan exclusive to me. I hope I'm wrong.

DC Universe Online Gets An Epic Trailer

DC Universe Online aka Operation Mind Fuck.

After teasing us with a minute long trailer, which made me go wild with speculation, Sony has now released a full six minute trailer which expands upon their original teaser. DCU Online is giving The Old Republic's CG trailers a run for their money in the epic department.

So, my original guess of alternate realities in DCU Online was way off. It's cool though, there's no more need for guesswork and speculation because this six minutes of awesome pretty much establishes DCU Online's story, and does so in the most mind-bending ways possible.

Fast As Lightning, Redesigned Cole Emerges

That was fast, Sucker Punch. A little too fast, maybe. The stylistically challenged Infamous 2 developers have released a quick sketch of Cole's new design, which they said wouldn't suck. Now I'm pretty convinced that Sucker Punch needs to fire their character design team and start from scratch. I'm not one for belittling someone's hard work, but honestly, I could probably design a better character.

The proposed new Cole looks eerily similar to the old Cole, which wouldn't be a bad thing if the old Cole didn't look so plain and boring. While I did like his racing jacket/cargo pants/utility bag clothing combo, the Jason Statham face wasn't doing it for me. If this new sketch is any indication, they're sticking with something close to his old duds, instead of the muscle tee and black-and-white-Eddy-Gordo-pants look. They've also modeled his face to look more like David Beckham

What do you guys think, new Cole or old Cole?

    PS3 Netflix Gets EZ Mode

Last week, Fast Company reported that 61% of the total 15 million Netflix users have used the services streaming option in the past year. That's a huge jump up from last year's number of 37% of users streaming movies. I'm sure much of this can be attributed Netflix's reach. You don't have to be stuck in front of a computer to stream a movie these days, options like Boxee, Wii, Xbox 360, and PS3 allow users options and ease when streaming.

As awesome as it is to have Netflix streaming on our gaming consoles, we can't help but think that it's a bit watered down. Sure, the service allows us to access instant cue, new additions, several genres, and what's been suggested for us, but one of the most important aspects has been missing until very recently. PS3 is the first to strike with a search function of the service's streaming catalog. 360 users will have to wait until November for this handy upgrade. Wii owners, who the hell knows. Enjoy it while you can PSNers. I guess they had to do something to offset having to pop in that stupid disc every time you want to stream something.

DC Universe Online to Get Alternate Universes?

I'm not completely sure of what's going on in DC Universe Online's latest trailer. What I am completely sure of, is that it kicks ass! Batman is decked out in heavy armor, Cyborg is blasting a massive energy weapon, Wonder Woman is sword-fighting with Deathstroke, Joker is in battle gear, Harley Quinn is possibly dead, Flash is.. Well, running away.. And Superman has five o'clock shadow and red eyes. That has to mean he's evil, right?

What if this is some sort of alternate reality, where the good guys are bad, the bad guys are bad, but the storyline and game play is awesum?! I was never a fan of DC Comics because their stories put me to sleep (I will admit Blackest Night is dope) but if DCU Online does some crazy alternate reality shit, I'll have to at least try it out.

Infamous 2's Cole Is Getting a Makeover

OMG you guys, it's make over time! *squeal*

Apparently, the folks at Sucker Punch have their ear to the ground. About three weeks ago, I complained about how silly Cole looks in Infamous 2. Sucker Punch, who develops the Infamous series, must have taken my complaints personally because they're redesigning Cole. Good move Sucker Punch, good move.

Currently, there are no shots of what the redesigned human conduit will end up looking like, but SP reassures us that they're hard at work rebooting the character design to one that doesn't suck. It's kind of refreshing to know that a developer is listening to the complaints of it's customers, and applying fixes so proactively. Kudos, fellas! While we patiently await Cole to emerge from the stylist's chair, here's an uneventful trailer to tide us over, showing Infamous 2's comic style cut scenes.

Scott Pilgrim and PS3 vs. The Xbox 360 Community

It is with a heavy heart that I must tell you that the incredible looking XBLA/PSN game Scott Pilgrim vs. The World will be a PSN exclusive.. For two weeks. That's right, Sony has landed the exclusive rights to 4-player online coop beat 'em up for a full two weeks before Microsoft can get it's filthy rich hands on it. This annoys me, because I wanted to be able to play the game on day one, and I'm sure as hell not going to buy it for PSN, because it's still not impressive enough for my cooperative cohorts to move away from what I think is the superior service, Xbox Live.

    Eye-kido: PS3's Kung Fu Live

Get it? Aikido, Eye-kido? What? Fine, forget it..

These "Eye" peripherals are pretty stupid, aren't they? A gloried digital camera that uses the player's likeness in your favorite Eye-games like.. Well none come to mind, probably because the Eye peripherals are stupid. Why are they stupid exactly? Because there was never a game like Kung Fu Live for them before.

Kung Fu Live casts your likeness in the mean streets of Backalley USA, where brick walls are your home and belligerent thugs are your guests of honor. Looks like you'll really have to work to clean these streets, pucnhing and kicking your way through waves of meanies. The collision detection looks really slick for an Eye game, with enemies responding timely to the in-game manifestation of your corporeal attacks. That's right. And if that wasn't cool enough, cut scenes seem to be Quick Time Events where an outline is flashed on screen and you have to position your body to fit, capturing you in comic book styled panels. Sick!

I've been anti-Eye peripherals since their Inception, but this Kung Fu Live thing might make me change my tune.
